Well things didnt go entirely the way I had thought. I
was planning on chasing central MO, but got suckered south for some
reason. I went against my better judgment and thought I was going
towards the better cape.Wrong, actually the better place to be this day
was along the warm front where the winds were backing. Most of
the better action was into IA along the warm front. Well I did manage
to find quite a few storms that seemed to almost produce tornadoes. Had
some rotation with some of these that I had intercepted. Doppler
indicated rotation that is.Anyway not a lot to report here.
First storms here are around the southern tip of IL, I am heading southwest at this point.
There was actually a lot of lowering going on with this first storm. It
quickly turned into scud but it was showing some structure. This was
early on in the day.
Heres some of that lowering structure, this is just a small sample of
what the storm was doing. Let it move east as I continued south.
Now this storm was apart of a broken line moving north east. Some of
the line segments had rotation, but not persistent rotation. I am in
extreme western KY in this shot.
Next storm down the line as I move south east. This storm was actually
looking better and better, but I gave up on it for the storm to its
south, due to it being the tail end storm.
These last two images are from that last storm that was exhibiting rotation on Doppler but looked questionable.
First real chase of the season, with lots of activity on the horizon. I
can tell you now that the terrain in western KY is horrible chase
terrain!
